PE & Sport Premium

PE & Sport Premium Funding
PE & Sport Premium funding is being provided by the government to improve Physical Education (PE) and Sport in primary schools. In 2014, the government announced that schools would continue to receive the Sports Premium Funding until 2022. Currently, schools receive a base amount of £16, 000 + £10.00 for each pupil in Years 1-6. The funding will be given directly to primary Principals to improve the quality of PE and Sport for all children. However, we have the freedom to choose how we do this!

How will Beacon Primary Academy use the funding?
Beacon Primary Academy will spend the PE & Sport Premium funding to improve the provision of PE and Sport for all of our children across the school. Our priorities are strongly linked with Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust (GDFT).

How did we spend the Sport Premium in 2022-2023?
The last academic year, we participated in various inter-school competitions with other schools along the East Coast through the GDFT Sports Partnership. The children enjoyed participating in a range of sporting activities. Some of the funding was used on transport to various festivals and competitions in the area, as well as subsidising costs for our children to participate in after-school clubs.
We have an agreement with JB’s Sport Coaching to deliver some of our sports provision. JB’s Sport Coaching provides the highest possible level of primary physical education services. In doing so, they hope to ensure that all primary school children have the opportunity to regularly partake in enjoyable, physical exercise.

We are also able to access  some events, festivals, CPD opportunities through JB’s Sport Coaching and GDFT. As part of the Academy Partnership with JB’s Sport Coaching, we also receive in school support, training and CPD opportunities for staff, focusing on developing high-quality provision for the PE curriculum.
This academic year, we are also arranging intra-school competitions within our own academy, where the children can compete against each other in their respective team colours. This is so that all our children feel part of competitive sports and have fun at the same time!

In conjunction with this we have once again secured a partnership with Allison Consultancy. Allison Consultancy supports us to develop High Quality Physical Education and School Sport. Allison Consultancy work in partnership with schools, academies and organisations, to provide the highest quality, specialist, bespoke support and resources for the development of Physical Education and School Sport.
